What is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser Liposuction is a procedure that can be performed to alter the shape and contours of the body, with the removal of stubborn fat deposits. Vaser (vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance) is an ultrasound technology that generates ultrasonic waves that work to break down the fat cells that are being targeted.

Once the fat cells have been successfully broken down, Dr. Elfieshawy will use liposuction to remove the excess fat. There are a number of benefits to adding the ultrasound technology to the liposuction procedure versus simply doing the traditional liposuction procedure.

Am I a good candidate for Vaser Liposuction?

Some of the indications that you may be a good candidate for Vaser Liposuction could include the following.

  • Looking to lose inches around hips, waist or thighs
  • Looking to tighten loose skin after weight loss
  • Looking to target stubborn fat deposits that workouts aren’t helping
  • Looking to add some definition to targeted areas, without further weight loss

Do you qualify for Vaser Liposuction?

The Vaser Liposuction procedure is a good option for both men and women looking to reshape their bodies. Patients should have a healthy lifestyle and should already be at his or her target weight. Weight gain or weight loss can alter the results of the procedure. Vaser Liposuction can’t help you to lose weight or to maintain your weight. Patients should be committed to a healthy lifestyle after the procedure in order to maintain their results.

During your consultation, Dr. Elfieshawy will explain to you what needs to be accomplished in order for you to be eligible for the procedure.

How can Dr. Elfieshawy get the best in results for you?

Your initial consultation with Dr. Elfieshawy is your opportunity to discuss the areas of stubborn fat on your body that you’d like to target with treatment. Dr. Elfieshawy will conduct a physical examination and review your medical history before determining the best course of treatment for you. Cosmetic procedures are highly individualised and no two procedures will be alike. Dr. Elfieshawy will use his experience and talents to ensure that your results help you to meet your cosmetic goals.

How much does the Vaser Liposuction cost?

The costs associated with Vaser Liposuction can vary between patients, based upon the extent of work that is being performed. Some patients may opt to combine procedures, and this can have an impact on the associated costs.

It’s important to note that procedures performed for purely cosmetic reasons will not be covered by health insurance. Patients are encouraged to discuss their coverage with their insurance companies prior to scheduling the surgery.

How can I best prepare for Vaser Liposuction?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Elfieshawy will discuss the procedure and any potential risks or complications that may be possible. He will also make sure that you have realistic expectations from the procedure.

Patients are provided with pre-procedure instructions that will cover what should be accomplished prior to the day of your procedure. This could include stopping any supplements and medications that may potentially result in to during the procedure. Preparing for your procedure could also mean that you have someone to help you around the house for the first few days after your procedure, as you’ll likely have some discomfort.

What you need to know about anaesthesia

The Vaser Liposuction surgery is performed under general anaesthesia or conscious sedation. If you have ever had a poor reaction to anaesthesia in the past, be sure to let Dr. Elfieshawy know. Any prior complications should be discussed, in order to ensure your safety during and after the procedure. It’s important to note that most patients tolerate the anaesthesia well.

The procedure itself

The Vaser Liposuction procedure can take between one and two hours, based upon the size and the number of areas being targeted. The surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure.

Dr. Elfieshawy will use ultrasound technology to target the fat cells. The fat cells will be liquefied, which makes them easier to remove using traditional liposuction methods.

What to expect after the surgery?

Patients should expect to have some bruising and discomfort after the procedure. There may also be some swelling, but it should subside within a few weeks of the procedure. Compression garments may be recommended, as they can help to control the swelling and the discomfort.

Prescription pain medications and antibiotics may be offered, to help ensure a comfortable and infection-free recovery.

What are the risks and complications involved with Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser Liposuction is considered to be relatively free from complications and risks. No surgery can be said to be completely risk-free, however. The Vaser Liposuction procedure’s risks are minimal, and could include infection, excessive bleeding and blood clots in your legs or lungs.

How long is the recovery period?

Vaser Liposuction is a surgical procedure but it is minimally invasive. Most patients find that they feel much less discomfort after the first full week of recovery. Patients can slowly start returning to exercise and physical activity after 4 weeks. Exercising too early can lead to scar tissue formation. The swelling and bruising will decrease as each week goes by.

How long will I be out of work?

Unless the job requires a lot of physical activity, most patients will be ready to return to work after a week of recovery. This is a minimally invasive procedure.

What kind of scarring is possible after Vaser Liposuction?

The scars you could expect from liposuction procedures are minimal, and typically made in discreet locations. Dr. Elfieshawy will discuss his techniques and his goals for minimising scarring.

How long will it take to see the final results?

The results of the Vaser Liposuction may take a few full weeks to be completely recognisable. The swelling and bruising can make it a challenge to see the true results of the procedure. They will subside in time, revealing the smooth and toned new contours of your body.
