Liquid Facelift

Liquid Facelift
As we age, the face begins to lose collagen and elastin. This coupled with the effects of gravity, contributes to sagging facial features. The loss of facial volume and elasticity also leads to the formation of wrinkles, lines and folds. In addition, the development of fine lines caused by repetitive muscle activity can eventually become permanent.

In the effort to reduce these effects, cosmetic enhancement procedures have developed and improved immensely over the years with a new emphasis being placed on prevention and a less invasive approach. The latest advancements in anti-ageing non-surgical aesthetic procedures is all about gently lifting, smoothing and re-contouring facial features. Although there is still a stigma surrounding plastic surgery with some people, non-surgical treatments are still widely considered more acceptable.

One of our patients found herself pondering her options for facial rejuvenation when reviewing her facial changes.

‘I am in my mid-40’s, very active, always on the go woman who one day realized the disparity between my mind, body, physique and… my face. I was starting to look at my face and say, ‘Why bother?’ Nothing made me look the way I feel,” she says. ”I was spending so much on face creams that didn’t deliver results. And going under the knife seemed a bit drastic. One of the most important factors to me was no time off from work or the family. Significant cost savings helped as well.’

So she decided on a liquid facelift, a combination of muscle relaxant and filler over the entire face that costs between $1500 and $5000.

A liquid facelift uses a combination of muscle relaxant to relax lines and wrinkles and filler to replace lost volume and ”gives the effect of a facelift without the risks associated with surgery”.

The fillers Dr Zacharia  uses are made from a sugar (polysaccharide) in the form  that is largely hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin, muscle and tendons of mammals. Its role in the skin is to retain moisture and add volume. Injecting this into or under the skin replaces lost volume, supports the skin, thus reducing wrinkles and improving the appearance of the skin. Research has shown that the body responds to the fillers and creates new collagen which stabilizes the filler, keeping it where it has been injected and also increasing the volume naturally.

This in addition with the muscle relaxant injections, which prevent the nerves from moving the muscle, therefore smoothing the overlying skin softening those areas, results in making you appear younger and more refreshed.

“Dr Zacharia was able to sculpt my youthful face beautifully! I shed 10years of my life in one session. No downtime, No scars and still the possibility of a surgical face lift down the road is there.”
